W.J. Contracting Corp was the general contractor for the new Ludlow Room at Katz’s Delicatessen. From a freight scale that’s weighed every pound of meat served since 1949 to a tiled floor and foil ceilings, “The Ludlow Room”, is a restored 68-seat dining room that has been closed to the public since 1949, when it was converted into a walk-in refrigerator to support the deli’s growing demand for pastrami, corned beef and brisket during the postwar boom.
